State of Qatar Participates in the Extraordinary Session of the Economic and Social Council in Cairo

The State of Qatar participated in the meetings of the 117th Ordinary Session of the Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo, with the participation of the heads and members of Arab delegations. The Qatari delegation was chaired by Dr Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, Deputy Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Finance. The Council’s agenda discusses a number of economic and social issues, foremost among them progress made in completing the requirements of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and developments related to the Arab Customs Union. The agenda also reviewed the alignment of legislation governing intra-Arab trade in support of small and medium-sized enterprises. During its session, the Council also commended the State of Qatar for the successful hosting of the Second World Summit for Social Development, expressing its appreciation and thanks for the efforts exerted by the State in this regard.
